Motivational Interviewing Beginning Skills teaches skills and strategies that are derived from the evidence-based practice of motivational interviewing. The training looks at the MI Spirit (values), practitioner behavioral skills (OARS- Open questions, Affirming, Reflecting, and Summary), structure and strategies (creating safety, practicing acceptance, avoiding discord, etc.), 4-Process Model (Engage, Focus, Evoke, Plan), and increasing commitment to healthy behavior change. This training will be contextual and responsive to direct service providers in all forms of encounters (face-to-face, over the phone, via text, etc.)
This training will be led by Shawn Smith of Share Training. To learn more about Shawn, please visit the Share Training website.
