The Blood Draw Training for HIV Testing is a one day training for HIV prevention staff, HIV Partner Services Providers and Tribal Coordinators who want to learn how to draw blood for HIV, Hepatitis C (HCV) and syphilis testing. This training will include practice drawing blood and performing a live stick on another person. The goal of this training is to increase the capacity of HIV prevention staff, so they are able to provide more comprehensive services to clients in the field.
Objectives:
During this training, participants will:
• Define drawing blood and infection control
• Explain the benefits of the different types of collection for drawing blood
• Discuss the necessary materials for drawing blood from the arm and hand
• Summarize how to draw blood for HIV testing
• Practice drawing blood for HIV, Hepatitis C (HCV) and syphilis testing
